We took this trip in the month of May for a taste of Belgium. After a redeye flight to Brussels, we drove through the northeast to find giant wooden trolls and a see-through church before settling in the striking river town of Dinant for the delicious monastery beers of Leffe. From there we made our way through the beautiful gardens and bell tower views of Thuin, amazing Villers Abbey ruins, and Waterloo Battlefield before finding ourselves in Bruges: the Venice of Belgium. After thoroughly exploring the bridges, brews, and views of Bruge we wrapped up our trip in Brussels for even more architecture, museums, and delicious food and beverage. Despite this being a ‘weekender’ trip, we really got a good feel and flavor of all that is Belgium!
