We took our 13-day jaunt in June / July through Slovenia and Northern Croatia. Our journey through Croatia began with exploring the impressive Trakosan Castle and Neanderthal Museum before settling into the capital city of Zagreb for a couple nights. We continued south to the cascading beauty of Plitvice Lakes and checked out the very cool Barać Caves and abandoned Zlejava Airforce base built into a mountainside. The Adriatic Coast siren called us to the city of Pula for Roman ruins and then to get lost in the narrow alleyways of Rovinj. Although we had less than a week in the Croatian portion of our trip, that taste was just enough to stoke our hunger for more!
